Do you have what it takes to be our next Chair?
We are looking for a new Chair that can work with the Board and the Centre’s staff team to make an even greater impact on Wales’s economy and society in the years ahead. The Wales Co-operative Centre is a unique organisation with a strong set of values.
The Wales Co-operative Centre has ambitious plans for the next few years and beyond. We are looking for someone who can help us on that journey, someone who shares our aspirations and our values.
The Board has recently agreed a new five year strategy. This has broadened our remit whilst retaining our specialist role as a champion of co-operatives and co-operative working. From our work in developing Wales’s social business sector, to our innovative programmes that promote inclusion, we want to play an increasingly prominent role in helping to make Wales a fairer country.
The Wales Co-operative Centre is in a strong position. Our work has widespread support and we enjoy excellent relationships with Welsh Government, funders and other strategic partners. We have a healthy financial position, with good reserves and an increasingly diverse income base. Our staff team are committed to their work and expert at what they do. We receive excellent feedback from external evaluations about the quality of what we do and how we do it.
Nonetheless there are challenges. Many communities and organisations we work with are facing a perfect storm as funding gets harder to secure whilst the people and communities they support are experiencing increasing hardship. Public sector austerity and Brexit is likely to mean less funding for our work and is leading to policy uncertainty as it dominates the time of politicians and policy makers across the UK.
If you believe you have what it takes to help us navigate the next phase of our journey, we would be pleased to hear from you.
